UAE Cooperates with Hungary in Accreditation and Conformity Assessment

 

The UAE national accreditation system (ENAS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hungarian National Accreditation Authority (NAH), for the technical cooperation in the field of accreditation, conformity assessment and exchange of specialized technical expertise, in addition to cooperation in conducting joint assessments of conformity assessment bodies, including halal conformity assessment bodies, where the Hungarian National Accreditation Authority will grant accreditation to halal product certification bodies in Hungary and neighboring countries according to UAE requirements for Halal.

The agreement was signed last week in Mexico during the Mid-Term meetings of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

The MoU was signed by Dr. Rehab Al Ameri, Director of the National Accreditation Department at Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) And H.E. Miklos Devecz, General Director of the Hungarian National Accreditation Authority.

Bilateral partnerships

Dr. Rehab Al Ameri, Director of the National Accreditation Department at ESMA, considered that the MOU serves ESMA's efforts to keep up with the plans of the UAE government towards making bilateral partnerships with various countries in the world, especially in the Halal industry field, where UAE leads the international efforts which have positive impact on the development of the Islamic economy sector.

Dr. Rehab also added, that UAE has established a global integrated Halal products network, launched several vital initiatives globally, and signed memorandums of understanding to develop the Halal sector in the world.  This is to enhance the objectives of ESMA to make the national system of Halal the basis for a global system of trade for Halal products.

Al Ameri highlighted the recent appreciation of the global Halal economy, which reach about $ 6.4 trillion in 2018, where halal food sector is one of the most attractive sectors in the Islamic economy and an important investment link for UAE and the world, UAE government seeks to enforce the partnerships with different countries in the world, to serve the interests of UAE economy and to enhance the competitiveness of the country.
