The Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, ESMA, is working on updating the requirements of the energy efficiency label for household appliances such as refrigerators and freezers in an effort to reduce the consumption of these appliances to ensure that these products comply with electrical safety standards, energy efficiency.

Abdullah Al Maeeni, ESMA's Director-General, confirmed that the authority constantly updates regulations related to energy efficiency in household appliances to upgrade the star system. The higher the stars on energy efficiency cards, reflecting the consumer, the national economy, and the environment, while the consumption of refrigerators and freezers for energy is estimated at 15 percent of total consumption.
ESMA has issued 362,710 energy efficiency labels for refrigerators and freezers during the period from February last year to the end of February of this year, while Al Maeeni explained that the factors affecting the consumption of energy, whether refrigerators or freezers or any other device, depends on the size and technology used.
